Framed Handkerchiefs | House & Home
One of my favourite things to do is rummage through Op shops, in particular the linen sections. Hand sewn tablecloths, runners and handkerchiefs. I love laying out my cloths but there’s no way I’m using second hand handkerchiefs! But when they look as beautiful as this, who wouldn’t want them on display? Try to choose similar patterns and colours for cohesiveness, and if you can only find a few/odd number, try framing some of your scrap fabric too to make your square.

I was blessed by the thrift guardians today. Here is a sneak peek at what I was able to get. There are more goodies inside.

We started the day off by jamming to “Thrift Shop” by Macklemoore in the car. Before you harp on yes, we didn’t just go thrift shopping because of this song. All three of us M,C, and T (C’s hubby) have ALL gone thrift shopping before. I was just nice to have a theme song for the day. We ended the day at our cozy little coffee shop downtown and I racked up the calories with this delicious gingerbread man in a cup chai tea. All together our purchases included: T-paisley button down, C-roller blades, M-Balderdash game and teal sweater. Successful day!

Although the day was dedicated to thrift shopping, we decided to wander into our hometown’s welcome center. They are working on remodeling it right now but have included the original fireplace from the house that was in the lot before. It was from the 1920s. The stained glass on the door and above it was patched with random red pieces, just like they used to use scraps when one panel was damaged. The floor also had copper pieces riveted into it for the same reason. The lady that ran the place was really nice and gave us maps to the town with info about events that happen regularly so we can add things to our list. Thanks Kristine!

I found a fuzzy box. Must belong to hagrid. You have to open it by stroking the spine of course….

We found this awesome vintage baseball glove too. I wondered who had actually used it. How many people had had their palms pressed against that rough leather.

So this handicapped chair lift thing was actually scary as fuck but it wouldve been fun if it went really fast but instead it was slow and it felt like it was going to break and I would plummet to my death down these huge ass stairs. But I didn’t so it was all good!

You can’t have thrift shopping without finding weird ass shit! At first I thought the glass head was kinda of like a piggy bank. Like “we’re too cool to have a piggy bank. We have a people bank instead.” Honestly if it would have been I might have bought it.
